Meetings

See the Program page for the date of our next meeting.

The Launceston Photographic Society meets on the fourth Tuesday of every month, except December when we have our Christmas Dinner.

Meetings begin at 7.30pm and are held in the Griffin Dining Room at Scotch Oakburn College. This is just next to the car park off Penquite Road, Newstead.

Our meetings usually follow an informal format. We begin with a program which may be a guest speaker, one of our own members presenting their work or some technical or teaching aspect of our hobby. The committee does its best to provide a varied and interesting program, but if there are things you would like to see included, please don’t hesitate to let us know. We also have informal critiquing sessions where members can get feedback on their images.

After this we have a break for a drink and a chat. This is followed by our monthly competition where we get a chance to look at the work of our own members. New members may find this a bit daunting, but read the information on competitions and you'll understand what it's about.

Part of our meeting is used to discuss any club business that may arise or deal with any queries that members may have. The committee deals with most matters, so that this is usually only a brief session. After all, we want to spend most of our time looking and talking about our photos.

The Club also organizes a number of photographic outings and activities for members, and is in the process of establishing some sub-groups for members with specific interests, such as portraiture.
